K6VVA CQP 2004 SAN BENITO COUNTY
My Saturday QRV with K7NV on 20 meters at N6O was
a lot of fun!
After Church on Sunday morning, I headed off for a few hours as
a CQP "County Expedition" as K6VVA/P in rare San Benito County.
Thanks to the hospitality of Bill Regentz, his
daughter Laura Souza
and the entire staff at the DUNNEVILLE RESTAURANT (part way to
Hollister at Shore & San Felipe Roads), K6VVA/P SBEN was QRV.
An extra special thanks to Laura Souza for use of a heavy duty
extension cord and electrical power from the adjacent house!
Ready to "walk up" the used R-5 vertical on
the new Force 12
X-Base N6BT delivered to me at 8:30AM on his way through
Gilroy!
The antenna was installed in an area behind the Restaurant.
The K6VVA/P (SBEN) station on the other side of the fence
from the antenna in the backyard of a home on the property.
K6VVA/P QRV from 'SBEN", although no computer keying and the
VOX wouldn't work on SSB so had to fumble with a hand mike ;-(
The highlight of the brief trip ... one of the two AWESOME BBQ'D
DVR Tri-Tip/Garlic Bread sandwiches consumed on Sunday!
If you like GREAT food, the DUNNEVILLE RESTAURANT is only a
few miles from the Santa Clara/San Benito County line. The
"Organic Towers" would be great for an 80/40m Inverted Vee :-)
The Restaurant had officially closed when I took this pix, and
there is more seating than showing. The food is GREAT!
Need supplies? A well stocked deli/market with cheerful folks!
There is also an outdoor patio with much more seating room.
